Friday, May
4, was a memorable one for Churchill Downs and not just because it was Oaks
Day. All-sources handle was up 6.5% to a record of $39.9 million, an increase
of $2.4 million over last year, which was a record handle.
Friday’s
on-track attendance was the second largest of all-time with 112,500 people
entering the gates of Churchill downs. The Oaks Day attendance record was set
in 2010 when 116,000 went to the races.
